Alpha Leads July 3 Box Office While Welcome To The Jungle Holds Firm

Mumbai : The domestic box office witnessed a highly anticipated clash on July 3, featuring a mix of massive franchise power, mid-budget suspense thrillers, and resilient comedy holdovers. Yash Raj Films’ highly publicised action thriller Alpha emerged as the highest single-day grosser, securing the number one position nationwide, even as its performance met with mixed trade reactions and heavy competition from existing releases.

Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha grossed an estimated ₹9 crore net at the Indian box office on its opening day across more than 7,500 shows. Starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in lead roles as espionage agents, the actioner comfortably outperformed Alia's previous theatrical outing,

Jigra. However, the film fell short of initial multi-crore projections typical of the YRF Spy Universe, registering a modest 20.40% average theater occupancy. Trade analysts note that the film's financial path forward will rely heavily on weekend word-of-mouth momentum.

Meanwhile, the multi-starrer comedy caper Welcome to the Jungle, fronted by Akshay Kumar, showed incredible staying power. Entering its second week, the massive ensemble film successfully retained family audiences, pushing its total domestic net collection past the coveted ₹97 crore milestone.

Exhibitors indicate that if Alpha faces a post-opening dip due to mixed reviews, Welcome to the Jungle stands to gain additional show allocations over the weekend.

Simultaneously, Huma Qureshi's dark thriller Baby Do Die Do marked a quiet but steady launch. Playing across a limited layout of 778 screens, the experimental film managed a modest ₹0.40 crore net on its first day. Despite facing stiff competition from big-budget blockbusters, early viewers have highly praised Qureshi's central performance, positioning the movie for potential growth within niche urban multiplexes.
