Agra Woman Kills Husband And Buries Body Beneath House Bathroom Floor

Agra : In a deeply unsettling crime echoing recent grim instances of domestic homicide, the Agra Police have arrested a 40-year-old woman for allegedly murdering her husband and burying his body beneath their bathroom floor. The accused, identified as Ruby Sharma, maintained a deceptive front for 45 days, telling family members, neighbors, and law enforcement that her husband had mysteriously gone missing.

The victim, 44-year-old Surendra Sharma, resided with his wife and two daughters in the Dehtora locality under the jurisdiction of the Sikandra police station. According to police reports, the couple's 16-year marriage was deeply strained due to Surendra's chronic alcoholism and subsequent domestic disputes.

The crime took place on May 18. Investigators revealed that Ruby laced a bowl of kheer (sweet pudding) with a heavy dose of sleeping pills and served it to her husband. Once Surendra fell unconscious, she allegedly strangled him to death. The following morning, after sending her daughters to her brother-in-law's house, Ruby dug a deep pit within their bathroom, deposited the body, and systematically sealed the grave with concrete plaster and fresh tiles to completely obliterate any visual evidence.

To deflect suspicion, Ruby lodged a formal missing person's complaint on May 26 and actively participated in the search. The elaborate cover-up fell apart during a routine police verification visit. Noticing Ruby's highly agitated and nervous demeanor, officers grew suspicious. Concurrently, Surendra’s brother flagged unauthorized bank account activity.

During sustained interrogation, Ruby broke down and confessed to the crime. Forensic teams subsequently excavated the bathroom floor, exhuming the severely decomposed remains. Deputy Commissioner of Police Syed Ali Abbas stated that while Ruby is in custody, a thorough probe is underway to determine if external accomplices assisted her in the strenuous physical task of burying the body.
