Civil Defense Officer Manoj Verma Honoured with Prestigious Taekwondo Hall of Fame India Award

Lucknow : Senior Civil Defense Officer Manoj Verma has been conferred with the esteemed Taekwondo Hall of Fame India 2026 Award under the "Pioneer of Taekwondo" category, recognizing his 41-year-long dedication and outstanding service to the sport.

The honor was presented by Grandmaster Jimmy R. Jagtiani, the Founder and Father of Taekwondo in India, alongside Chief Guest Sudhir Halwasiya, Treasurer of the Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI), during a ceremony held at Hotel Ellora in Lalbagh.

Manoj Verma’s journey in Taekwondo began in 1985. Over the decades, he achieved significant milestones, earning his 1st Dan Black Belt in 1990–91 and his 2nd Dan Black Belt in 1991–92. He also certified as a qualified National Instructor and National Referee.

Beyond martial arts, Verma serves as a gazetted officer holding the position of Senior Assistant Deputy Controller in the Civil Defense Department, Lucknow. In 2022, on the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day anniversary (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav), he was awarded the President’s Medal for distinguished service. His athletic prowess spans other domains as well, including winning a gold medal at the 1994 Delhi Fire Competition. Verma currently leads the Arms Wrestling Association of Uttar Pradesh as President and holds a key leadership position in the Lucknow Rollball Sports Association.

The event also recognized notable personalities, including Grandmaster Mahendra Mohan Jaiswal, former SAI Director Sanjay Saraswat, Peter Jagtiani, Master Manoj Sharma, Rahul Devanda, Nisha Singh, and Piyush Kushwaha.

Congratulations poured in from TFI Vice President Ashok Bhargava, Master Rupkamal Nandi, and Civil Defense UP officials, including Sumit Maurya, Ravindra Kumar, and Rishi Kumar, praising Verma for bringing pride to the department.
