Prayagraj : The historic Chandrashekhar Azad Park was transformed into a vibrant canvas of colors as the two-day Chrysanthemum and Coleus Exhibition-2025 concluded on Sunday. The event, which has become a hallmark of the city's winter calendar, celebrated the intersection of botanical beauty and environmental stewardship.

Celebrating Winners and Green Thumbs The closing ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Mudit Chandra, Principal Chief Personnel Officer (NCR), and Special Guest Virendra Singh, Chief Horticulturist from Khushrubagh. In a keenly contested individual category, Mukund Lal from Hathighat secured the prestigious first prize for overall excellence in Chrysanthemum and Coleus. Dr. Ajay Kesarwani followed with the second prize, while Hari Netralaya was recognized with an incentive award for their impressive display.

In the government and semi-government sectors, the Moti Lal Garden Unit (In-charge Suresh Kumar Yadav) bagged the top spot. The Band Stand Garden Unit (In-charge Shiv Kumar Maurya) and the Angoor Garden Unit (In-charge Pooja) secured the second and incentive prizes, respectively.

A Symbol of Environmental Sensitivity Addressing the gathering, Mudit Chandra remarked that these floral displays are more than just a visual treat; they represent a deep-rooted sensitivity toward nature and environmental protection. He urged individual participants to expand their efforts and return with even more enthusiasm in future editions.

According to the Superintendent of Government Park, the exhibition featured a total of 87 entries across various categories, with 59 awards being conferred to 56 outstanding entries. The ceremony also saw the presence of prominent scientists like Dr. R.E. Wilson and Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh, who lauded the technical quality of the species on display. The event successfully encouraged local residents to embrace urban gardening and biodiversity.
