Empowerment Through Preparedness: Manoj Verma Advocates for Universal Disaster Management Skills
Civil Defense officer Manoj Verma trains Lucknow students in disaster management, fire safety, and emergency stretcher construction techniques.
Lucknow : Resilience begins with awareness. This was the core message delivered by Manoj Verma, Senior Assistant Deputy Controller and President’s Medal recipient, during a specialized training session for students at Saraswati Balika Vidya Mandir, Janakipuram Sector-I.
Speaking at the school’s ongoing two-day cultural festival and creative exhibition, Verma emphasized that for a nation to be truly strong, every citizen must possess the basic skills to handle emergencies. "Disaster management knowledge is not just for specialists; it is an essential life skill for everyone," he remarked.
- Practical Training for Real-World Safety
The session moved beyond theory, providing hundreds of participating students with hands-on experience in life-saving techniques: - Fire Safety: Students were taught how to identify different types of fires and, crucially, how to operate chemical fire extinguishers—an essential tool found in most public buildings.
- Emergency Transport: Using everyday items like bamboo poles and blankets, Verma demonstrated how to construct improvised stretchers to safely transport the injured during a crisis.
Community Commendation
The workshop saw enthusiastic participation from students and faculty alike. School Principal Mrs. Sudha Tiwari expressed her gratitude to Mr. Verma for his expert guidance. The event was supported by teachers Nidhi Rai, Nisha Mishra, Smriti Bisaria, Shubhra, Jharna Yadav, and Advocate Kanchan.
