LUCKNOW-In a significant year-end move, the Union Cabinet chaired by PM Modi has approved a major relief package for Vodafone Idea (Vi). The government has frozen the debt-laden telco’s AGR dues at ₹87,695 crore, granting a crucial five-year moratorium on payments.
This strategic intervention aims to prevent a telecom duopoly and protect over 200 million subscribers. The frozen dues will now be repayable between FY32 and FY41, providing Vi the necessary financial "breathing room" to invest in 5G and infrastructure.
