Mathura: The recent protests led by the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Apolitical) have prompted swift action from the Uttar Pradesh government. In response to the farmers’ plight due to waterlogging in over 35,000 villages, Relief Commissioner Bhanu Chand Goswami has instructed district officials to conduct surveys and provide compensation for damaged crops within the next 15 days. The protests, spearheaded by Agra Division President Rajkumar Tomar, included submitting a memorandum directly to the Relief Commissioner, demanding immediate aid.

The affected area spans over 11.48 lakh hectares of farmland across 59 districts. Following the orders, district officials will set up camps in villages to survey the damage caused by excessive rainfall. Tomar urged farmers to cooperate with survey teams and report any delays in the process. Alongside Tomar, Agra District President Deepak Tomar and Mainpuri District President Naveen Pratap were also present during the meeting.
