UP Rudras Sign Hardik Singh, Lalit Upadhyay in HIL Auction
UP Rudras bag marquee players Hardik, Lalit Upadhyay, and top international stars in HIL auction.
New Delhi: In an exciting start to the Hockey India League (HIL) auction, UP Rudras secured some of the biggest names in the game, including India’s star midfielder Hardik Singh and forward Lalit Upadhyay. The team, promoted by Yadu Sports, also acquired Olympics gold medalist Lars Balk from the Netherlands, along with New Zealand’s Kane Russell and Spain’s Alvaro Iglesias. With a purse of INR 4 crore to build a 24-member squad, the franchise has laid the foundation for a strong lineup by clinching these key players on day one.
Chief coach Paul van Ass praised the strategy that led to a successful first day, saying, “We were clear about getting Hardik and Lalit, and the team executed well. In an auction environment, it’s unpredictable, but we’re glad with the outcome.” UP Rudras' balanced approach combines seasoned internationals with promising Indian players, aiming to build a competitive team for the upcoming HIL season. The auction continues on Monday, with 400 domestic and over 150 international players still up for grabs.
