India reaffirms its commitment to Afghanistan's peace, participating in key UNSC and UNAMA initiatives.

World: India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador P. Harish, addressed the UNSC quarterly meeting on Afghanistan,Highlighting India's active role in maintaining peace and stability in the Territory. He highlighted India’s participation in two UNAMA working groups on counter-narcotics and private sector development. Harish reiterated India's commitment to UNSC Resolution 2593 (2021), which mandates that Afghan territory should not be used for attacks on any country.

India's development partnership with Afghanistan includes over 500 projects across all provinces. During the pandemic, India provided 27 tonnes of relief material, 50,000 metric tonnes of wheat, 40,000 liters of pesticides, over 300 tonnes of medical supplies, and 1.5 million Covid vaccine doses. Harish also noted the strategic importance of the Chabahar port and shared that India continues its scholarship scheme for Afghan students, with 2,260 new admissions, including 300 female students, since August 2021.
