India Post Payments Bank: 'Aapka Bank, Aapke Dwar' Boosts Welfare Access
India Post Payments Bank, established as an undertaking of the Department of Posts, has established many new dimensions in its journey of 6 years.
Ahmedabad: India Post Payments Bank, a venture of the Department of Posts, has broadened its horizons over the past 6 years through its 'Aapka Bank, Aapke Dwar' initiative. This program has introduced numerous innovative aspects to its operations, enhancing accessibility and service delivery.
Today, it plays a crucial role in advancing financial inclusion and supporting Digital India initiatives in rural areas. Various public welfare schemes from both the Central and State Governments are now efficiently reaching the farthest corners of society.
The statement was made by Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav, Postmaster General of the North Gujarat Region, Ahmedabad, during a program held at the Ahmedabad GPO to mark the 7th Foundation Day of India Post Payments Bank.
On this occasion, Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav, along with IPPB's Independent Director Ms. Jayshree Vrajlal Doshi, AGM Dr. Rajeev Awasthi, Chief Manager Shri Kapil Mantri, and Chief Postmaster Shri Ritul Gandhi, inaugurated the event by cutting the cake. He also honored the officials for excellent performance in IPPB.
Launched nationwide by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on September 1, 2018, IPPB has made significant strides, with over 33 lakh accounts actively managed in the Gujarat circle.
In the current financial year, IPPB in Gujarat has achieved notable milestones, including providing general insurance to 1.19 lakh individuals, updating mobile details for 1.80 lakh people, and enrolling 2,571 children under CELC. Additionally, Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT) totaling ₹242 crore have been disbursed to over 15 lakh beneficiaries.
Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav highlighted that IPPB has revolutionized the banking sector by offering paperless, cashless, and location-independent banking services right at people's doorsteps, including in the most remote areas.
Targeting some of the most financially underserved and vulnerable segments of society, IPPB has facilitated last-mile banking through innovative, cost-effective solutions and user-friendly interfaces.
With 44% of its customers being women, IPPB plays a significant role in advancing women's empowerment.
Postmaster General Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav underscored how IPPB turns postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks into mobile banking agents, providing essential services at the doorstep. These services include Aadhaar enrollment, mobile updates, digital life certificates, direct benefit transfers, bill payments, and various insurance options. Additionally, IPPB supports online deposits for Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, recurring deposits, public provident funds, and Postal Life Insurance.
Dr. Rajeev Awasthi, AGM of IPPB, highlighted the bank's dedication to offering holistic financial solutions through the vast network of the Department of Posts.
