Jaishankar Leads India’s Fight Against Synthetic Drugs

New York: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar emphasized India's dedication to tackling the global synthetic drug threat during the summit of the Global Coalition Against Synthetic Drugs. Emphasizing India's position as co-chair of Working Group-1, he highlighted the nation's initiatives to tackle illicit drug production and trafficking, particularly cross-border activities linked to terrorism. Jaishankar stressed India's strong framework, including 45 bilateral agreements and regulation of 27 precursor chemicals.
In his address, Jaishankar also praised the strengthening India-U.S. partnership, noting four meetings of the Counter-Narcotics Working Group and recent progress in bilateral drug control frameworks. He called for greater operational collaboration, intelligence sharing, and law enforcement cooperation to build a drug-free world, fostering security through collective determination. During his visit to the UNGA session, Jaishankar also held bilateral discussions with global counterparts, addressing issues like regional conflicts and climate action.
