Rae Bareli - Under the National Filaria Eradication Program, Universal Drug Intake (IDA) campaign is being run in the district. This campaign, which started on 10th August, will continue till 28th August. Under this, people are being given anti-filarial medicine. In this sequence, on Friday, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Virendra Singh took medicines to prevent filariasis.

After consuming the medicine, the Chief Medical Officer appealed to the people of the district that whenever the health workers consume anti-filarial medicine at home, they must consume it. Don't make any kind of excuse. The medicine is completely safe.
He said that Filariasis is also known as elephant foot, is caused by mosquito bite. This disease is incurable. If it happens then it is not cured, only it can be managed. It makes a person disabled for life.

There is only one cure for this disease, and that is to take anti filarial medicine. That's why take the medicine yourself and motivate the family and the people in the neighborhood to take the medicine. To avoid filariasis, it is necessary to take medicine once a year for five years continuously. This medicine is to be eaten by everyone except children of work age from one year, pregnant and people suffering from serious illness. Do not consume medicine on an empty stomach.

District Health Education and Information Officer D.S. Asthana also consumed anti filarial medicine. He said that due to the consumption of anti filarial medicine, some people may have problems of nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. Do not panic in such a situation. This means that the parasite of filariasis is present in that person. This reaction occurs due to the death of these parasites due to drug intake. This problem gets fixed on its own in some time.

In this sequence, 138 prisoners also consumed anti-filarial medicine in the District Jail on Friday. Assistant Malaria Officer Anil Christopher Massey, Malaria Inspector Chandan Dubey, Professor Neha Sharma from Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences and students Rahul, Dargi, Suraj and Gargi Tyagi, Dr. Nisarga from AIIMS Rishikesh, Anuradha Chandra from PCI during mass drug intake at District Jail Dr. Pooja from Rajat Srivastava NGO PATH, Assistant Professor Dr. Abhay Singh from AIIMS Rae Bareli were present.
