Ambedkar Nagar:A district-level committee meeting on food safety and drug administration was chaired by Additional District Magistrate (Finance & Revenue) in Ambedkar nagar. During the meeting, the Assistant Commissioner (Food) Grade-2 reported actions from April 2024 to September 2024, including inspections of 1,206 food establishments and the testing of 172 food samples. Based on lab results, 134 samples were substandard, 11 unsafe, and 7 misbranded. Legal actions were initiated against violators, resulting in 63 cases with fines totaling ₹10,14,000.

In addition, the Drug Inspector reported the inspection of 154 pharmaceutical establishments, with 93 samples sent for testing. Of these, 3 were misbranded, 4 substandard, and 1 spurious, leading to legal proceedings against violators. The committee emphasized raising awareness among food businesses and consumers and stressed the need for quality checks at origin points and larger sales centers to ensure the availability of safe food and genuine medicines for the public.
