Absent Revenue Officials Mar "Samadhan Diwas" Effectiveness in Kokhraj; SP Directs Quality Redressal
SP Satyanarayan Prajapat tackles grievances at Kokhraj Samadhan Diwas, while Revenue Department’s absence hampers resolution of land disputes.
Kokhraj , Kaushambi : Despite the state government’s mandate to resolve public grievances through "Thana Samadhan Diwas," the initiative faced a significant setback this Saturday at the Kokhraj police station. While Superintendent of Police (SP) Satyanarayan Prajapat was present to personally address complaints, the conspicuous absence of senior Revenue Department officials left many complainants in the lurch, rendering the session partially ineffective.
Police Vigilance vs. Revenue Apathy
On April 25, 2026, SP Satyanarayan Prajapat presided over the grievance redressal day, listening to 11 complainants. Recognizing that the majority of disputes were land-related, the SP ordered the police teams to coordinate with revenue personnel for on-site, quality-based resolutions.
However, the event highlighted a growing divide in administrative commitment:
Police Engagement: Officers, led by Station House Officer (SHO) Chandrabushan Maurya, actively registered cases and attempted immediate mediation.
Revenue Negligence: No senior revenue officers attended the session. Local reports suggest that the absence of higher-ups has emboldened Lekhpals (village accountants) to act with impunity, often ignoring the plight of the common man.
Frustrated Seekers of Justice
For many who arrived with hopes of settling long-standing land disputes, the day ended in disappointment. While 5 out of 11 cases were reportedly resolved on the spot, the remaining matters involving complex land measurements remained pending.
"Without the presence of competent revenue authorities, the 'Samadhan Diwas' is becoming a mere formality. Police can maintain law and order, but they cannot settle land boundaries alone," remarked a frustrated complainant who had to return without a resolution.
Accountability in Question
The SP assured the public of fair and timely justice, directing the available staff to ensure that no complaint is left unaddressed due to negligence. Despite the SP’s firm stance, the lack of inter-departmental synergy—specifically the Revenue Department’s apparent disregard for the government's intentions—has raised concerns about the local administrative machinery.
The session was attended by Kanungo Kuldeep Srivastava and Lekhpals including Sohan, Shiv Shankar Pal, Sunil Dwivedi, and Aparna Srivastava, among others. However, the early departure of several officials citing "time constraints" further irked the waiting public.
