Kasol Rave Party Whistleblower Seeks Police Protection From High Court Over Threats

Shimla :  In a dramatic twist involving the high-profile drug operations in Kullu district, the public interest litigation (PIL) petitioner who exposed unauthorized rave parties in Kasol has filed an urgent application before the High Court, alleging serious threats to his life and demanding immediate police protection.

The applicant stated that after presenting critical evidence to the court regarding illicit narcotic networks, rave events, and illegal commercial structures operating deep within the Parvati Valley, he began receiving highly intimidating phone calls and physical threats from unidentified individuals connected to the local drug trade. Fearing imminent danger to himself and his family, the petitioner requested the state judiciary to intervene and direct top law enforcement agencies to deploy security personnel for his safeguarding.

The division bench took serious note of the application, emphasizing that the safety of citizens assisting the judiciary in public interest matters is of paramount importance. The court directed the state administration and the Director General of Police to immediately assess the threat perception level and take necessary preventive measures.

The original litigation had triggered widespread police crackdowns across Kasol, Tosh, and surrounding hamlets, exposing how massive commercial electronic music parties were being organized in pristine forest areas without administrative clearance or environmental permits. Local authorities have recently intensified patrolling and sealed several properties following judicial interventions. Legal experts state that the petitioner's security request highlights the deeply entrenched and volatile nature of the commercial interests behind these hidden events, placing extra pressure on state police forces to dismantle the networks completely while safeguarding whistleblowers.
