Three Women Among Seven Arrested With Heroin In Massive Kangra Crackdown
Kangra Police arrested seven individuals, including three women, recovering nearly fifty grams of heroin during multiple anti-drug operations.
Dharamshala: In a major offensive against the escalating drug menace in Himachal Pradesh, the Kangra Police have arrested seven individuals, including three women, in three separate anti-drug operations. According to law enforcement officials, the coordinated raids resulted in the recovery of 49.48 grams of "chitta" (a local term for high-grade heroin) and the seizure of vehicles used to transport the contraband.
Detailing the operations, Kangra Superintendent of Police (SP) Shalini Agnihotri stated that the first breakthrough was achieved by a team from the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA). Acting on a tip-off, the team intercepted a taxi near the Ecco Bridge in the Jadrangal panchayat area. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the apprehension of three men and the recovery of 13.9 grams of heroin.
The second major bust took place in the Shahpur subdivision during a routine checking operation. The police intercepted a motorcycle and arrested a man and a woman. The duo, identified as 24-year-old Vinod Kumar from Uttar Pradesh and 45-year-old Sunita from Punjab, was found in possession of 33.01 grams of heroin.
Earlier, the police had also arrested two local women in the Palampur region following a tip-off, recovering 2.57 grams of the contraband. "We have registered multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at respective police stations. Our teams are now working to trace both the backward and forward linkages of this supply chain to completely dismantle the network." — SP Shalini Agnihotri
