India Gets First Bomb Disposal Standard
India notifies IS 19445:2025, the first national standard for bomb disposal systems. Learn how BIS and MHA are strengthening India's internal security infrastructure.
NEW DELHI- The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has officially notified IS 19445:2025, the country’s first dedicated standard for bomb disposal systems. Developed with the Ministry of Home Affairs, it establishes vital benchmarks for evaluating equipment against high-intensity blast loads and splinters.
This move addresses a critical gap in India’s security infrastructure, moving away from restricted international benchmarks. The new standard ensures that bomb blankets and inhibitors used by police and armed forces meet rigorous, quality-driven manufacturing and safety criteria.
