AI Agents Dominate Indian Sales Sector: 91% of Professionals Hail AI as the Secret to Success in 2026

Lucknnow : A massive technological paradigm shift is sweeping through India’s sales landscape. According to the latest 'State of Sales' report released by Salesforce, a staggering 91% of Indian sales professionals now consider AI agents essential to their business success. As 2026 begins, sales teams are pivoting toward an ‘AI-first’ approach to meet increasingly ambitious revenue targets.

The report highlights a critical bottleneck: the average Indian salesperson currently spends only 41% of their time actually selling. The remaining 59% is consumed by administrative burdens, manual research, and data entry.

Sangeeta Giri, SVP, Salesforce South Asia, commented on this transition:

"In a competitive market like India, we are moving from ‘hustle’ to ‘high-precision.’ AI agents are removing operational barriers, allowing sales teams to focus on building deeper, more meaningful customer relationships."

Key Statistics: The AI Adoption Surge
The report provides a deep dive into how AI is reshaping the workforce:

  • Widespread Usage: 90% of Indian sales organizations already utilize AI for lead scoring and automated email drafting.
  • Mental Well-being: 89% of sellers report that AI has significantly reduced their mental workload and job-related stress.
  • Future Readiness: 54% of professionals have already integrated AI agents, while another 43% plan to adopt them by next year.

High-Performers Leading the Charge
A striking revelation in the report is the performance gap: High-performers are 1.7 times more likely to use AI agents compared to their under-performing peers. By automating "boring" tasks like cold calling and manual research, AI is expected to slash time spent on administrative drafting by 35% to 38%.

To ensure these AI tools are effective, 82% of Indian professionals are now prioritizing Data Hygiene. Standardizing systems and removing duplicate data has become a top priority to ensure that AI-generated insights remain accurate and trustworthy.
