Four Dead and Over Twenty Injured in Yamuna Expressway Crash

Mathura : A horrific road accident on the Yamuna Expressway left four people dead and at least 25 others injured in the early hours of Tuesday. The tragedy unfolded near milestone 112, under the jurisdiction of the Raya police station limits in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district, when a speeding double-decker sleeper Volvo bus rammed into the rear of a gravel-loaded trailer truck.

The private bus, carrying approximately 65 to 70 passengers, was en route from Lucknow to Delhi/Noida when the collision occurred at around 3:35 am. The impact of the crash was so severe that the entire front section of the bus was completely crushed. According to senior district officials, the four deceased include three members of the bus staff—the driver, conductor, and cleaner—alongside one passenger.

They tragically died on the spot.  Upon receiving information, teams from the local police, Fire Service, and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rushed to the scene to launch a massive rescue operation.

To ensure the victims received rapid medical intervention, authorities successfully established a dedicated green corridor stretching from the crash site to the district hospital.Preliminary investigations led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shlok Kumar indicate severe driver negligence. Statements from surviving passengers reveal that the main authorized driver was not operating the vehicle at the time. Instead, the co-driver or conductor was behind the wheel, driving at an extremely high speed before losing total control.

Mathura District Magistrate Chandra Prakash and the SSP visited the hospital to review the emergency treatment arrangements, confirming that two passengers suffered fractures but none are currently in critical condition. The administration is currently facilitating safe onward travel for the discharged passengers.
