NAGAUN/GUWAHATI- In a tragic incident in Assam's Hojai district, the Sairang-New Delhi Rajdhani Express collided with a herd of wild elephants early Saturday. The impact resulted in the death of seven elephants and caused the locomotive and five coaches to derail.
Railway officials confirmed that all passengers remained unhurt despite the derailment. The accident, suspected to be caused by low visibility due to heavy fog, has led to train diversions. Forest authorities are currently conducting a probe into this devastating wildlife loss.
