National. Babu Shivji Rai Foundation, Delhi staged the famous novelist Acharya Chatursen's novel 'Vaishali ki Nagarvadhu' Amrapali at Shriram Centre in the country's capital Delhi.

The play was directed by Utpal Jha, a graduate of National School of Drama and Kumar Veer Bhushan, a graduate of Bharatendu Natya Academy.

In the drama, the childhood of Vaishali's royal dancer and courtesan Amrapali, her love for Arundhwaj, exploitation by feudal lords, unethical treaty with kings, war to protect the republic of Vaishali in times of crisis, dialogue with Buddha, the task of women entering Dhamma, driving Ajatashatru out of Vaishali and the aim of art being sacrificed for the nation etc. were kept at the center.

The drama ends with the roar of swords in the hands of Amrapali, the courtesan of Vaishali, who holds the Veena and is a dream girl dancer, and Ajatashatru running away from the Vaishali republic in fear.

In the presented drama, the set of Sujit Kumar and Shivam Yadav, costumes of assistant director Atul Dhingra, music of Prasoon Narayan, make-up of Archana Kumari and lighting concept of Uttpal Jha made the presentation in accordance with the time and situation.

Among the female characters, Anushka Jaanwala gave a wonderful performance in the role of courtesan Amrapali. Niti Shukla did justice to the role of the old royal dancer Pushpagandha.

Khushboo as Madhulika showed her acting skills while nurse Shwaswati Sahariya and screenwriter Meenu Rathi impressed the audience.

Among the male characters, Atul Dhingra as Buddha, disciple Bhagyesh Kaushik, villain Ajatshatru as Monideep Kanjilal, chief minister Chetak Rajan Anand, Vatskar Deepak Gupta, Arundhwaj Gurve Deepak and Ashwasen Vijay Shukla impressed the audience by playing their characters well.

Minister Shivshambhu, Vashubandhu Shivam Yadav, first citizen Yezendra Kumar Ajju, second citizen Bhaskar Jha, third citizen Sujit Kumar, female citizen Bhavya Singh and soldier Navneet were highly appreciated.

Art teacher Dilip Sharma, litterateur Rizwan Raza, Pankaj Chaudhary, Suman Kumar Singh, Sanjana Tiwari and advocate JP Yadav were present on behalf of the organization for the arrangements and welcome of the program. Certificates, mementos etc. were also presented to the artists by the directors.
