New Delhi. The 30th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) was held in New Delhi on Wednesday.

During this, India and China reviewed the current situation on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with the aim of finding an early solution to the pending issues.

Gorang Lal Das, Joint Secretary (East Asia), Ministry of External Affairs, led the Indian delegation, while the Chinese delegation was led by Hong Liang, Director General of the Border and Oceanic Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, apart from discussions between the two foreign ministers in the recent meetings held in Astana and Vientiane, the two sides reviewed the current situation on the LAC with the aim of finding an early solution to the pending issues. Restoration of peace and harmony and respect for the LAC is an essential basis for the restoration of normalcy in bilateral relations.

In the meeting, both sides agreed on the need to jointly maintain peace and harmony at the ground level in the border areas in accordance with the relevant bilateral agreements, protocols and understandings between the two governments. The leader of the Chinese delegation also met Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.

According to the ministry, the meeting had in-depth, constructive and forward-looking discussions. Both sides agreed to maintain the momentum through established diplomatic and military channels.
