New Delhi to Host Strategic Quad Foreign Ministers' Meeting on May 26

New Delhi. In a major diplomatic mobilization, India is set to host the Quad Foreign Ministers' meeting in New Delhi on May 26, 2026. The high-profile gathering will mark a crucial juncture for the four-nation alliance as they reinforce their shared vision for a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) officially confirmed the summit on Friday, announcing that the event comes at the direct invitation of India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar. The elite diplomatic contingent arriving in the capital includes Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, and United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who will be undertaking an official state visit to India.

According to the official MEA statement, the upcoming discussions will heavily build upon the strategic frameworks established during their previous high-level dialogue in Washington, D.C., on July 1, 2025.

"The Ministers will exchange views on advancing Quad cooperation across priority areas, review progress on ongoing Quad initiatives, and reflect on recent developments in the Indo-Pacific region and other international issues of mutual concern," the Ministry stated.

The agenda is expected to address critical regional challenges, maritime security, supply chain resilience, and technological collaboration. Beyond the multilateral table, the visit holds significant bilateral weight. The visiting foreign dignitaries are scheduled to hold independent, one-on-one sessions with Minister Jaishankar to deepen bilateral ties. Furthermore, the ministers are slated to call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their time in New Delhi, underscoring the top-tier geopolitical importance of the summit amid evolving global dynamics.
