Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar Advocates 'Advaita' to Solve Global Crises, Urges End to Zero-Sum Mindset

New Delhi : Speaking at the 'Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav Global Conference' organized on the occasion of United Nations Day, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar presented India’s clear vision for global peace and international diplomacy. Addressing the gathering at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on the conference theme 'Advaita' (One Reality), he stressed that the ancient philosophy teaches nations to rise above narrow self-interest and parochial thinking.

According to an official statement by the Ministry of External Affairs, Dr. Jaishankar highlighted that the philosophy of Advaita or 'One Reality' inspires the international community to completely abandon the outdated 'zero-sum game' mindset—where one nation's gain is viewed as another's loss. He asserted that in today's interconnected global landscape, countries must pivot toward shared, collective interests and recognize humanity's underlying oneness. The Minister noted that peaceful coexistence is imperative for global welfare since the fates of all nations are inextricably linked.

Referencing ongoing geopolitical conflicts around the globe, the External Affairs Minister cautioned that peace is indivisible. A war or crisis originating in any corner of the planet does not remain isolated; rather, it threatens security, economic stability, and peace everywhere. Reaffirming India's steadfast diplomatic stance, Dr. Jaishankar reiterated that India consistently advocates for 'dialogue and diplomacy' as the only viable path to resolving international disputes.

Advocating for urgent reforms in multilateral institutions, Dr. Jaishankar remarked that global organizations cannot remain silent spectators during major crises. He called on the international community to take a unified and firm stand against global challenges such as terrorism. The conference, organized to mark the 75th anniversary of Chinmaya Mission, was attended by several distinguished dignitaries, including UN Resident Coordinator Shombi Sharp (represented alongside international envoys) and spiritual leaders.
