Gadkari Signals Big Shift to Ethanol and Electric Mobility
Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said multiple flex-fuel car models are expected to hit Indian roads within two months. The move signals a clear push toward ethanol-blended green mobility, aimed at cutting fuel imports, reducing pollution and supporting Indian farmers.
Gadkari also highlighted the reduced customs duty on lithium-ion batteries, which should lower electric vehicle costs for manufacturers and buyers. He pointed to the PM E-DRIVE scheme as an incentive accelerating India's shift toward electric buses, two-wheelers and charging infrastructure.
Together, the flex-fuel rollout, cheaper battery imports and PM E-DRIVE incentives could reshape India's automobile market. Consumers may soon get greener, cheaper choices, while the government targets energy security and lower emissions. Further details on launches and pricing are awaited.
