UP Leaps From Assembling Phones to Making Microchips
Yogi Adityanath says Uttar Pradesh now makes 60% of India's mobile phones, with chip and AI plans next.
LUCKNOW- Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said Uttar Pradesh now produces nearly 60 percent of India's mobile phone production and 55 percent of its electronics components. He spoke at an HCLTech event in Lucknow marking ten years of the company's presence in the state.
The state is moving beyond assembly towards semiconductor manufacturing. A ₹3,706 crore HCL–Foxconn chip unit is coming up in Jewar, which the government describes as a major step for Make in India and Digital India.
The CM also pointed to proposals for 644 MW of data centre capacity and plans for an AI City. The AI-Pragya skilling drive aims to train 10 lakh youth in emerging technologies, building a workforce for the state's tech ambitions.
