Union Minister Visits Hindustan Zinc’s Rajpura Dariba Complex

Lucknow : Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal and Mines, visited Hindustan Zinc Limited’s Rajpura Dariba Complex in Rajasthan to review the facility's advancements in sustainable mining, technological innovation, and community development.

The minister toured the Sindesar Khurd Mine—one of the world’s largest and most technologically advanced underground silver-producing mines—alongside the Dariba Smelting Complex. Accompanied by Hindustan Zinc CEO Arun Misra and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Mines Vivek Bajpai, the visit underscored the critical role of domestic zinc, lead, and silver production in achieving the government’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat 2047.

During his underground visit to the Sindesar Khurd Mine, the Minister reviewed the company’s tele-remote operations and digital control rooms, highlighting how automated infrastructure improves both safety and efficiency. A key highlight of the visit was a live demonstration by India’s first all-women mine rescue team.

"Hindustan Zinc’s operations reflect how the country’s mining sector is evolving into a modern, responsible, and technology-driven growth engine for the nation," said Shri G. Kishan Reddy, commending the company's focus on safety and diversity, which includes a 26.3% female workforce.

With an annual refined metal capacity exceeding 1.1 million tonnes, Hindustan Zinc's output is vital for sectors like renewable energy, electric vehicles, and defense. The minister's visit also focused heavily on the company's environmental and social initiatives, including:

• Sustainability: Advancements in water stewardship, low-carbon growth, and paste-filling waste management.
• Community Showcase: A review of flagship CSR programs including Sakhi (women's entrepreneurship), Shiksha Sambal (education), and Unchi Udaan, which prepares rural youth for successful corporate and technical careers.

The visit reinforced Hindustan Zinc’s position as a global leader in responsible mining, vital for securing India's critical mineral supply chain and reducing import dependencies.
