LUCKNOW-Starting January 1, the Indian government has made energy efficiency star-labeling mandatory for several key appliances. According to the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) gazette notification, products like refrigerators, televisions, LPG gas stoves, and cooling towers must now display ratings.

Previously voluntary, this shift ensures consumers can easily identify high-performance, energy-saving units. The mandate also extends to deep freezers, solar inverters, and distribution transformers. This move aims to significantly reduce national power consumption and promote a sustainable, greener future.
