Meta Launches Instagram Plus Subscription Tier with Premium Features

New Delhi : Meta has officially introduced a new monetization model for its popular social media platform with the global rollout of "Instagram Plus." This optional premium subscription service is priced at USD 3.99 per month, targeting power users, creators, and individuals looking for advanced engagement analytics and deeper profile customization.  

The core focus of Instagram Plus heavily revolves around upgrading the standard Stories experience. Subscribers gain access to "Story Extend," which doubles the standard lifespan of a Story from 24 hours to 48 hours. Furthermore, a new "Story Spotlight" feature allows users to prioritize their posts at the very front of their followers' feeds once a week.  Privacy and analytics also receive a major boost.

The tier introduces "Story Rewatch Insights," letting creators track how many times their content has been re-watched by viewers. Subscribers can also anonymously preview Stories before viewing them fully, create unlimited custom audience lists beyond the traditional "Close Friends" filter, and utilize a specialized search bar to instantly verify if a specific account has viewed their post.  On the cosmetic side, the paid tier enables users to choose from an exclusive selection of creator-designed custom app icons, apply unique fonts to their profile bios, and double their profile pins from three posts to six.  Meta heavily emphasized that the standard Instagram experience remains entirely free and unchanged for regular users. Rather than acting as an ad-blocker, Instagram Plus operates as a utility-focused upgrade.
