DELHI- India’s energy landscape is set for a historic transition as experts project coal's contribution to shrink to 30-35% by 2047. Currently dominating at 70%, the shift highlights India's aggressive pursuit of cleaner energy sources while maintaining grid stability and economic growth.
Despite surpassing one billion tonnes of production in FY25, the focus is shifting toward "FutureCoal" technologies. Industry veteran P.M. Prasad stressed that responsible fossil fuel utilization and drastic emission cuts are essential for India to achieve its sustainable development goals.
