Five Year Old Girl Dies Falling From Tenth Floor Delhi Balcony

New Delhi: A devastating tragedy unfolded in southeast Delhi's Kalkaji Extension on Saturday evening, where a five-year-old girl lost her life after falling from the tenth floor of a residential high-rise building. The fatal incident occurred at the Asha Kiran Apartments, a 14-storey complex developed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).  According to senior police officials, the child had gone to sleep earlier in the evening. Her father, a local fish vendor, was away at work while her mother had briefly stepped out to visit a neighbour's flat.

Preliminary investigations suggest the young girl woke up alone and, unable to find her mother, wandered onto the balcony. Investigators believe she leaned over the edge to look down and accidentally slipped through or over the railing. Residents rushed her to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.  The heart-wrenching incident has sparked intense outrage among family members and neighbors, who are strongly flagging critical safety lapses within the residential complex.Family Statement on Safety: "If protective safety grills or secure structural netting had been properly installed in the balconies, our child would still be alive today.

High-rise developments must maintain mandatory, foolproof child-safety arrangements," a grieving relative shared.Local residents also pointed out risky gaps in the architectural design between the staircases and the balcony railings, demanding immediate intervention from authorities to install safety nets across all towers to prevent similar nightmares.Meanwhile, the Govindpuri police have launched a formal inquiry.

A specialized crime team along with forensic experts have thoroughly inspected the spot. Investigators are currently scanning CCTV footage from the complex and recording detailed statements from neighbours to reconstruct the precise sequence of events.
