Himachal Governor Launches ‘Chalo Himachal’ Poster Campaign To Boost Adventure Tourism

Shimla : To elevate the state’s positioning on the international travel map, Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla officially released the promotional poster for the upcoming 'Chalo Himachal' tourism campaign at Raj Bhavan. Organized by the Himachal Adventure Sports and Tourism Association (HASTA) in collaboration with the State Tourism Department, the initiative aims to spotlight the state's untapped eco-tourism and adventure potential.

The flagship campaign seeks to diversify tourist footfall by shifting focus from traditional, overcrowded hill stations toward lesser-known high-altitude valleys, pristine trekking trails, and adventure hubs across districts like Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, and Chamba.

Focus on Safety, Standardization, and Eco-Tourism
Speaking at the launch event, Governor Shukla emphasized that Himachal Pradesh possesses a unique topographical advantage that makes it a natural hub for thrill-seekers. However, he stressed that the future of the state’s tourism model relies heavily on balancing modern adventure sports with environmental conservation.

"The 'Chalo Himachal' campaign must act as a bridge to promote responsible travel, ensuring local communities benefit economically while protecting our fragile Himalayan ecosystem." - Shiv Pratap Shukla, Governor

The promotional drive will actively feature high-octane activities including paragliding in Bir Billing, river rafting in the Beas and Spiti rivers, mountain biking, and winter heli-skiing.

Association representatives briefed the Governor on plans to host a series of adventure festivals, roadshows, and digital media campaigns across major Indian metropolitan cities to attract domestic travelers ahead of the autumn season. The state government also announced plans to streamline safety certifications for local adventure operators, guaranteeing a safe, world-class experience for international backpackers and domestic thrill-seekers alike.
