Fourteen Year Old Girl Killed As Boulder Smashes Into Moving Car

Bharmour : In a tragic monsoon mishap, a 14-year-old girl was killed when a massive boulder rolled down a steep hillside and crushed the roof of a moving car in the Bharmour subdivision of Chamba district. The fatal accident occurred on the Dhakog-Banni road around mid-day, sending shockwaves through the local community.The deceased has been identified as Dikshita, a resident of Naddi near Dharamshala. According to police reports, the teenager was returning with her family after paying obeisance at the historic Banni Mata Temple. There were five occupants inside the vehicle at the time of the catastrophic impact.  Eyewitnesses stated that due to recent heavy rainfall in the region, the hillside had become unstable. Suddenly, large rocks dislodged from the upper slopes and tumbled down onto the roadway. One large boulder struck the vehicle directly, piercing straight through the roof and causing fatal injuries to the young girl. The other four passengers miraculously survived the ordeal with minor injuries but were left severely traumatized by the incident.Emergency rescue teams and local law enforcement rushed to the spot immediately upon receiving information. The injured were moved to a nearby medical facility for treatment and psychological evaluation, while the body of the deceased was shifted for post-mortem examinations.The local administration has urged travelers and pilgrims to exercise extreme caution while navigating mountainous routes during the ongoing monsoon, as shooting stones and landslides remain highly unpredictable. The state weather bureau has already issued safety alerts for several districts, warning of continued heavy downpours that heighten the risk of rockfalls along vulnerable highway stretches.
