Bharat Bandh has been called on 21st August in protest against Supreme Court's decision to implement creamy layer in SC/ST reservation.
Reservation Bachao Sangharsh Samiti and many Dalit organizations have supported this bandh.
Hundreds of people took out a procession and protested in Akbarpur.
On 1st August, Supreme Court allowed states to create sub-categories in SC/ST reservation, after which a debate has started across the country. The committee has demanded withdrawal of this decision.
In view of security, police has issued high alert in Uttar Pradesh. Public transport and private offices may be affected during the bandh, but emergency services will remain operational.
