Varun Dhawan Slams Toxic Internet Trolls with Witty Arjun Kapoor Quip

Mumbai: Bollywood star Varun Dhawan has candidly opened up about the relentless nature of online harassment and meme culture targeting celebrities, while offering a humorous glimpse into his real-life bond with fellow actor Arjun Kapoor. Addressing the escalating internet negativity, Varun lighter-heartedly remarked, "Meri shuru hui to Arjun Kapoor khush ho gaya" (When they started targeting me, Arjun Kapoor finally felt relieved), taking a friendly swipe at how heavily both actors feature in social media memes.

While Varun maintained a witty demeanor regarding light-hearted creative roasts, he strongly condemned the toxic shift toward abusive personal attacks. The Border 2 actor drew a distinct line between healthy criticism and malicious virtual bullying. He emphasized that public figures must gracefully accept standard box-office feedback and audience opinions, as they willingly sign up for public scrutiny. However, he expressed deep concern over internet users targeting individuals during deeply vulnerable moments.

The topic gained serious traction following an emotional tribute posted by Arjun Kapoor on his late mother’s birth anniversary, which was met with insensitive comments from internet trolls. Stepping up to support his childhood friend, Varun stated that utilizing digital platforms to deliberately humiliate or break down an individual's mental health is completely unacceptable.

Furthermore, Varun warned audiences about the dangerous rise of paid narrative manipulation across popular networks. He noted that public perceptions are no longer strictly organic, as individuals can easily hire networks of fake creators to intentionally distort a celebrity's public standing. Urging social media users to exercise emotional empathy, Varun and industry veterans alike have stressed that while cinema criticism remains an essential right of the paying audience, digital interactions must never cross the threshold into targeted cruelty and personal abuse.
