Uttar Pradesh to Recruit 1003 Staff for Cancer and Cardiology Departments at Medical College Kannauj
Uttar Pradesh plans swift recruitment of 1003 posts to revive cancer and heart disease treatment at Kanpur medical college.

The situation in the cardiology department mirrors that of the cancer unit, with both failing to provide comprehensive treatment due to lack of resources and staffing. Local communities, activists, and elected representatives have repeatedly raised their voices, staging protests and raising questions within the legislative assemblies to ensure the smooth functioning of the hospital. Despite these efforts, the current state government has struggled to allocate sufficient budget and resources to the institution.
The public interest litigation, numbered 1712/2025, was heard on July 9, 2025, before Chief Justice Arun Bhansali and Justice Kshitij Shailendra. During the hearing, the government assured that essential medical services would soon be restored by filling the necessary vacancies. The recruitment drive is expected to address critical staff shortages and improve healthcare delivery at the hospital, making specialized treatment accessible to patients in Kannauj and nearby areas.
Shaurya Deep Sachin Srivastava expressed hope that the administration would fulfill its commitment, stressing the urgency of reviving the hospital’s cancer and cardiology units to prevent further hardship for patients. He also highlighted that the medical college was a significant project initiated during Akhilesh Yadav’s administration, and its potential should be fully realized to benefit the public.
The revival of the cancer and heart disease departments is anticipated to reduce the burden on tertiary care hospitals in metropolitan areas and improve health outcomes in the region. Officials are working towards finalizing the recruitment process to expedite the availability of specialists, nurses, and other medical personnel critical to delivering quality healthcare.
This development marks a crucial step in enhancing the state’s healthcare infrastructure and underscores the government’s responsibility to provide adequate medical services to all citizens, especially those suffering from life-threatening diseases like cancer and heart ailments.
