Max Hospital Lucknow starts monthly kidney transplant OPD in Gorakhpur to offer advanced care and reduce patient travel.

Gorakhpur : In a significant step towards expanding specialized healthcare access in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Max Super Specialty Hospital, Lucknow, has launched dedicated kidney transplant OPD services in Gorakhpur. The initiative is in collaboration with Orchid Hospital, located at Taramandal, Gorakhpur.
The new services were officially launched in the presence of Dr. Venkatesh Thammishetti, Associate Director and Senior Nephrologist at Max Hospital, Lucknow. As part of this new initiative, Dr. Venkatesh will be available for consultations on the fourth Saturday of every month from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Orchid Hospital.
The launch of this specialized OPD aims to eliminate the need for patients to travel to Lucknow or other metropolitan cities for preliminary consultations, follow-ups, or transplant-related advice. This service is expected to save both time and cost while enabling early diagnosis and treatment of chronic kidney diseases (CKD).
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Venkatesh Thammishetti stated, “With this dedicated kidney transplant OPD in Gorakhpur, we aim to bring advanced kidney care closer to home for patients in this region. Early consultation and diagnosis are crucial for managing kidney disorders and ensuring better transplant outcomes. This OPD will help streamline both pre- and post-transplant care, offering expert guidance right from the patient’s hometown.”
Dr. Venkatesh further emphasized lifestyle modifications for kidney health, noting:
“A balanced diet, controlled intake of sugar and salt, and regular light exercise play a vital role in maintaining kidney health.”
Max Super Specialty Hospital, Lucknow is known for its comprehensive care in complex kidney transplant cases, including both interventional and medical nephrology services. The hospital offers cutting-edge facilities, multidisciplinary transplant teams, and long-term post-transplant support.
This initiative aligns with broader efforts to decentralize super-specialty medical services and make them more accessible to tier-2 and tier-3 cities. The partnership between Max Hospital and Orchid Hospital marks a crucial development in bridging the healthcare gap for kidney patients in and around Gorakhpur.
As chronic kidney diseases continue to rise in India due to factors like diabetes and hypertension, timely access to nephrology expertise becomes a critical need. This monthly OPD clinic ensures that patients can receive high-quality, specialist-driven care without the logistical and financial burden of intercity travel.
With this launch, Max Hospital reinforces its commitment to patient-centric care and continues to extend its advanced medical services beyond metropolitan boundaries, ensuring that quality healthcare reaches those who need it the most.
