Ahmadabad : The farsighted vision of India Post and its working approach in line with the motto ‘Dak Sewa-Jan Sewa’ has ensured reliable services even in rural and remote areas, establishing it as a prominent and trusted institution among the people. India Post has played a vital role in effectively implementing several flagship schemes of the Government of India through post offices. Along with this, the Department is committed to taking forward the vision of “Digital India” and “Financial Inclusion” to the last person in society, so that every citizen can avail easy, secure, and trustworthy services.

Due to safe investment options and attractive interest rates, Post Office savings schemes continue to remain highly popular. These views were expressed by Postmaster General, North Gujarat Region, Ahmedabad Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav, while inaugurating the ‘Postal Business Development and Financial Inclusion’ Maha Mela as the chief guest at Dr. Ambedkar Bhavan Auditorium, Gandhinagar, on 26th September.

While information about various postal services was provided through Maha Mela, Postmaster General Shri KK Yadav also distributed passbooks and policy bonds to the beneficiaries of various Savings Schemes, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Postal Life Insurance and India Post Payments Bank. He also felicitated and encouraged postal employees for their exceptional performance. On this occasion, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Gandhinagar Division, Shri Piyush Rajak, and IPPB Chief Manager, Shri Abhijeet Jibhkate, were also present.

Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that the role of postal employees is continually evolving in the journey from ‘Dakiya Dak laya’ to ‘Dakiya Bank laya’ under the ‘Aharnish Seva Mahe’ initiative. Through Dakghar Niryat Kendra, ODOP, GI, and MSME products are being delivered abroad, strengthening the concepts of “Vocal for Local” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat”. Shri Yadav said that with the introduction of Advanced Postal Technology in post offices, digital payments have increased significantly, promoting the vision of “Digital India” and a “Cashless Economy.” 

A Dak Chaupal was organized at this Mahamela under the initiative “Government Services at Your Doorstep”, which aimed to raise awareness about various government welfare schemes such as Aadhaar enrolment and passport services, along with digital banking, DBT, general insurance, and digital life certificates through IPPB. Special focus was given to remote and unbanked areas. Information was also shared about Dakghar Niryat Kendra to promote e-commerce and international trade for local artisans, ODOP, and MSMEs. To promote philately among youth, they were introduced to Philatelic Deposit Accounts and My Stamp services.

While distributing Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana passbooks to Girl children, Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav emphasized that providing a secure future to daughters through the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana should be the commitment of every family. This scheme is not just a means of savings, but a scheme that gives wings to daughters' dreams. Shri Yadav urged everyone to open Sukanya Samriddhi accounts for daughters and provide them the gift of financial security, especially during auspicious occasions like Navratri. Under this innovative initiative, a total of 4.77 lakh Sukanya Samriddhi accounts are operational across North Gujarat, and 850 villages have been declared as “Sampoorna Sukanya Samriddhi Grams”. In the Gandhinagar Division, over 89,000 Sukanya Samriddhi accounts are operational, and 286 villages have been declared as “Sampoorna Sukanya Samriddhi Grams”.

Sr. Superintendent of Posts, Gandhinagar Division Shri Piyush Rajak said that the main objective of this Maha Mela is to create public awareness about all welfare schemes related to Post Office and to connect more and more people with these schemes. Under financial inclusion in the Gandhinagar Division, currently 7.09 lakh Savings accounts and 1.4 lakh IPPB accounts are operational. In Gandhinagar Division, 120 villages have been declared as “Sampoorna Bima Gram” and 33 villages have been declared as “Sampoorna Bachat Gram”. Through the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra at Gandhinagar, over 3,000 passports have been issued during this financial year. Over 36,000 people have availed Aadhaar services through the Post Office, while 6,000 people have benefitted under CELC through India Post Payments Bank.

On this occasion, Sr. Superintendent Post Offices Shri Piyush Rajak, IPPB Chief Manager Shri Abhijeet Jibhkate, Manager Shri Niranjan Bhakta, Assistant Superintendent Shri Hemant Kantar, Shri Nitin Shendre, Shri Dakshesh Chauhan, Shri Ashit Kumar, Postal Inspector Shri V. K. Prajapati, Shri Chirag Suthar, Shri H. M. Parmar, Gandhinagar Postmaster Shri D. M. Rathod as well several local Public representatives, Postal officials, Citizens as well as Students also participated in the event.
