Lucknow : In a heartfelt initiative during Plastic Surgery Awareness Week, Medanta Hospital, Lucknow offered free OPD consultations for patients suffering from post-burn deformities, extending both hope and healing through the transformative power of reconstructive surgery.

The awareness campaign, held from July 15 to 21, aimed to not only spread knowledge about plastic and reconstructive surgery but also to underscore a crucial message: life after burns can be rebuilt with precision care and empathy.

Scores of patients from across the region attended the free OPD, seeking expert guidance on treatments that could restore function, mobility, and confidence. Spearheading the consultations was Dr. Nikhil Puri, Director of Plastic, Aesthetic, and Reconstructive Surgery at Medanta Lucknow, who personally examined and counseled patients throughout the week.

“Post-burn deformities are not just physical scars — they often leave deep emotional and psychological wounds,” said Dr. Puri. “Plastic surgery plays a vital role in restoring a patient's ability to lead a confident and independent life. Our aim through this initiative was to show that plastic surgery is about more than aesthetics — it’s about dignity and renewal.”

The week-long campaign witnessed a strong response from patients and their families, many of whom expressed relief at finding a platform that treated their concerns with sensitivity and medical excellence. The initiative shed light on the broader scope of plastic surgery — far beyond cosmetic enhancement — as a life-changing solution for those living with trauma and disability.

Dr. Puri and his team addressed a wide range of post-burn complications, including contractures, scarring, limited mobility, and facial deformities. Patients were educated on surgical options, rehabilitation strategies, and long-term care plans tailored to individual needs.

Hospital officials highlighted the importance of early medical intervention in burn cases and emphasized that timely reconstructive care can prevent lifelong disability. The awareness drive also aimed to bust myths and social stigma surrounding burn survivors, encouraging a more compassionate public outlook.

Encouraged by the overwhelming response, Medanta Hospital announced plans to conduct more such awareness and outreach campaigns in the future to ensure that quality burn care reaches those who need it most.

“This was more than a medical camp—it was a reaffirmation that science, when combined with compassion, can truly rebuild lives,” said a hospital spokesperson.

By taking this inclusive and community-oriented approach, Medanta Lucknow continues to stand out as a center of excellence in patient-focused healthcare, providing not just treatment, but renewed confidence to those who have suffered silently.
