Nicaragua receives gift of power substation and transmission lines from India
Indian Ambassador Dr. Sumit Seth formally inaugurated the 138 kilovolt transmission lines. Over the past few years, India has steadily strengthened its development partnership with the Global South, i.e., poor and developing countries. This power sector friendship project is another milestone in the overall partnership and cooperation.
The Indian Embassy in Panama, Nicaragua and Costa Rica posted on its official 'X' handle that Ambassador Dr. Sumit Seth, along with Energy Minister Salvador Mansell, formally inaugurated an electrical substation and 138 kilovolt transmission lines constructed with India's Line of Credit to Nicaragua. This project will significantly improve the living standards of the people and promote prosperity in Nicaragua.
During the inauguration ceremony, Minister of State for External Affairs Margherita said in her video message that India's portfolio of development partnership projects in Nicaragua includes Quick Impact Projects. The Minister also mentioned the recent medical camp organized by India in Nicaragua, in which approximately 500 artificial limbs were fitted to persons with disabilities. She described the power substation and the Jaipur Foot (India for Humanity) camp organized for the benefit of various patients in Managua as beneficial initiatives for the needy, which will help strengthen India's development partnership in Central America.
