MMDP kits and training provided to filariasis patients

Community Health Officer (CHO) Pragya Yadav presided over the program. Addressing the filariasis patients present, she explained that the disease is caused by mosquito bites and affects body parts such as the hands, feet, genitals in men, and breasts in women. If not treated promptly, this disease can lead to permanent disability.
The CHO explained that regular cleaning of affected areas, maintaining dryness, and gentle handwashing are essential. He emphasized that soap should not be applied directly to the affected area; instead, lather and gently clean, then rinse with clean water and dry with a towel. In case of wounds, dry them and apply antiseptic cream.
Regular exercise was also demonstrated to control swelling caused by filariasis. Patients were taught exercise techniques they can practice regularly at home to improve blood circulation in the body and prevent swelling.
