Lucknow. A 08 Weeks (02 Months) Skill Development Course on Advanced Spectroscopic (NMR, HPLC, LC-MS, UV/IR) Techniques, Under CSIR-Integrated Skill Initiative CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow 07 Aug to 29 Sep 2023 is being conducted by the Sophisticated Analytical Instruments Facility (SAIF) of the Institute. SAIF, CSIR-CDRI has been providing analytical services for more than 47 years and is one of the first four such facilities established by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India in the mid-seventies.

In the welcome and introduction session, Program Coordinator and Principal Scientist, Dr. Sanjeev K. Shukla told that the objective of this 2-month course is to prepare such human resources who are capable of handling, regular maintenance, and analysis of data obtained from advanced spectroscopic techniques. Be proficient in analysis. During this training participants will be exposed to the working of state-of-the-art equipment like NMR, Mass, HPLC, FT-IR, and UV-Vis. This training program will provide knowledge about theoretical, and practical training on basic and advanced experimental methods in these techniques as well as understanding and practical experience in elucidating structural information of molecules important in the process of drug research.

dr. V. Sashidhar, Senior Principal Scientist, Head SAIF, CSIR-CDRI welcomed the participants and said, SAIF (SAIF) at CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute has been conceptualized to meet the needs of scientists, and researchers engaged in the research area of biological sciences and chemicals. developed accordingly. It provides support to researchers from various universities, government R&D institutes, and industry, who do not have these expensive and sophisticated analytical instruments. He also advised the participants to utilize the next 02 months in the best possible way to get maximum benefit from this course.

During this interactive introductory session, the participants discussed in detail why they are interested in this course, what are their expectations, and how they want to use the knowledge gained from this course in the future.

The coordinator of this course is Dr. Sanjeev K. Shukla informed that the salient features of this skill development program include; Small batch sizes (only 16 participants) for effective training, around 40% theory and 60% hands-on practical sessions, lectures with multimedia support for better understanding of basic principles and applications, diverse sample preparation techniques Demonstration of, practical training sessions on state-of-the-art sophisticated equipment as per the syllabus. After eight (08) weeks, the participants will be assessed and a certificate will be awarded only after successful completion of the training.
