Lucknow : On his maiden visit to the Lucknow Circle as Chairman of the State Bank of India (SBI), Mr. Challa Sreenivasulu Setty presented a cheque of ₹2 crore to Hon'ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, to support the upgradation of 40 government primary schools under the bank's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

This financial support is aimed at enhancing the quality of education infrastructure in rural and underprivileged areas of the state. The Chief Minister appreciated the bank’s consistent efforts toward improving educational access and expressed gratitude for SBI's alignment with the state's developmental priorities.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, CM Yogi Adityanath praised the State Bank of India's CSR efforts, stating that such contributions are crucial for improving the quality of education and uplifting the primary education framework across Uttar Pradesh. He also encouraged SBI to increase its involvement in state-sponsored projects and continue being a reliable development partner.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Setty stated, “This contribution is a reflection of our commitment to empowering primary education in Uttar Pradesh. It will help create cleaner, safer, and more conducive learning environments for rural children, guiding them toward a brighter future.”

Mr. Setty emphasized that education remains a key focus area of SBI’s CSR policy, and that this initiative is part of the bank’s ongoing mission to support inclusive and sustainable development. He reiterated that the upgradation of schools will include better infrastructure, learning tools, and hygienic conditions — especially in rural regions that often face resource gaps.

Adding further value to his visit, the SBI Chairman also inaugurated 27 new bank branches across Uttar Pradesh, enhancing access to banking services in underserved and remote areas. This expansion is part of the bank’s broader goal to promote financial inclusion and make quality banking accessible to every citizen.

The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Deepak Kumar De, Chief General Manager of SBI Lucknow Circle, who reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting social causes and partnering with the state government for long-term development.

This landmark contribution reinforces SBI’s image not just as a banking institution, but as a key stakeholder in nation-building. By investing in education and infrastructure, SBI continues to set new benchmarks for how corporates can play a meaningful role in community upliftment through CSR.
