Governor Hails Epic Rashmirathi as Universal Anthem of Social Harmony

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta stated that the legendary epic poem Rashmirathi is much more than a masterpiece of literature, calling it an immortal guide for human equality, social harmony, and intense patriotism. Speaking during the grand inauguration of the two-day "Rashmirathi Parv" at Shimla's historic Gaiety Theatre, the Governor stressed that implementing the values of inclusion in daily life serves as the ultimate tribute to the iconic nationalist poet, Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh "Dinkar."

The specialized cultural festival was organized by the Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh "Dinkar" Smriti Nyas to commemorate the landmark Diamond Jubilee Year of the publication of Rashmirathi. Addressing a packed auditorium of scholars, artists, and youth, Gupta noted that India’s core national consciousness was molded by transformative historical icons who prioritized collective human welfare above personal interests. He contextualized Dinkar’s poetic power alongside the distinct societal contributions of Swami Vivekananda, Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Reflecting deeply on the thematic structure of the epic, the Governor pointed out that the life struggles of the central character, Karna, mirror the everyday challenges, resilience, and aspirations of common individuals fighting systemic bias. He urged younger generations to draw heavy inspiration from Karna’s sheer determination, grit, and moral fiber.

"The real warrior is not defined by external wealth or privilege, but by the inner courage used to conquer adversity," the Governor stated, encouraging youths to innovate proudly while fiercely remaining connected to their linguistic and cultural roots. To mark the milestone celebration, the Governor officially released a collaborative publication titled Rashmirathi Se Samvad before witnessing a poignant live theatrical production of the epic masterpiece directed by veteran theatre personalities.
