Call for Spiritual Waystations on the Ram Van Gaman Path
MP Amar Pal Maurya urges Rajya Sabha to build Shri Ram rest houses along the 210km Ayodhya-Chitrakoot pilgrimage route.
Prayagraj : The sacred journey from Ayodhya to Chitrakoot is poised for a major infrastructure upgrade. In a recent Rajya Sabha session, MP Amar Pal Maurya formally urged the Central Government to establish Shri Ram rest houses along the 210 km "Ram Van Gaman Path," the historic route believed to have been taken by Lord Ram during his exile.
Highlighting the spiritual significance of the path, Maurya emphasized that the route is not merely a road but a "living path of spiritual consciousness." Since the inauguration of the Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya, devotee footfall has surged by 300%. To accommodate this influx, Maurya proposed a phased construction of rest houses every 20 to 25 kilometers.
- These facilities are envisioned as more than just shelters; they are proposed to include:
- Essential Amenities: Clean drinking water, modern toilets, and first aid stations.
- Safety & Security: Dedicated spaces to ensure a secure environment for overnight pilgrims.
- Economic Hubs: Integration of the "One District One Product" (ODOP) initiative.
Integrating Local Heritage
The MP’s vision includes a unique blend of faith and commerce. By setting up ODOP stalls at these rest houses, the project could showcase local specialties:
- Pratapgarh: Famous Amla products.
- Prayagraj & Sultanpur: Traditional Moonj handicrafts.
- Kaushambi: Notable banana-based goods.
A Call for Action
With the path traversing through Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Prayagraj, and Kaushambi, the MP argued that organized waystations are "the need of the hour." He urged the Central Government to draft a formal action plan immediately to ensure a smooth, safe, and culturally rich experience for the millions following in the footsteps of Lord Ram.
