Himachal Pradesh CM announces renaming of Shimla Dental College after Rajiv Gandhi

Shimla: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced that the Himachal Pradesh Government Dental College in Shimla will be renamed as Rajiv Gandhi Dental College, Shimla. The Chief Minister made the announcement while presiding over the 4th Annual Conference of the Himachal Pradesh State Chapter of the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI).  

In addition to renaming the premier institution, the Chief Minister unveiled plans to establish a state-of-the-art Dental Health Research Centre in Hamirpur at an estimated cost of ₹300 crore. The proposed research centre aims to boost specialized oral healthcare, encourage advanced research, and generate new employment opportunities for medical professionals in the region.

He reiterated the government's commitment to modernizing health infrastructure across all district hospitals and medical colleges to ensure local access to quality treatment. The state government also plans to hold extensive consultations with dental specialists to further reform dental education and clinical care standards.
