Northern Railway to operate 3,050 special trains, ensuring smooth festive travel for passengers.
New Delhi: General Manager Ashok Kumar Verma chaired a review meeting at Baroda House with Northern Railway's department heads and divisional railway managers. Addressing preparations for the upcoming festive season, he announced that around 3,050 special train trips will be operated, marking a 181% increase from the previous year. To accommodate the surge in passengers, additional coaches are being added to regular trains. Verma emphasized measures for crowd control, enhanced staffing, real-time monitoring, and an efficient emergency response system to ensure smooth and safe travel.
Verma also stressed the importance of cleanliness, instructing that sanitation drives be intensified across stations. This includes regular disinfection, clean toilets, and effective waste management. He reviewed efforts to improve train speed by addressing obstacles, eliminating level crossings, and accelerating projects like track doubling, electrification, and building ROBs and RUBs. He called for faster processes and timely disposal of scrap, while also recommending that departments maintain adequate stocks of essential materials for repair and maintenance.
