BIS Highlights Consumer Empowerment at Lucknow Meet
Bureau of Indian Standards underscores product certification and consumer safety at media meet.
Lucknow:In a recent media meet hosted at Hotel Savvy Grand, Lucknow, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) underscored its initiatives to enhance product certification and consumer safety. Senior Director Sudhir Bishnoi elaborated on BIS's role in maintaining product quality through over 20,000 standards, emphasizing both mandatory and voluntary certifications for goods such as pressure cookers, gas stoves, and electronic items. This ensures consumer access to high-quality, certified products, contributing to health and safety.
BIS has also introduced the BIS Care app, allowing consumers to verify ISI-marked and hallmark products easily. The app also enables complaints against substandard products, empowering consumers. In alignment with the “Quality for All” initiative, BIS has engaged with various educational institutions and established more than 300 “Standard Clubs” to increase awareness of standards among youth in Uttar Pradesh.
