State School Swimming Championship Kicks Off in Lucknow
Uttar Pradesh's school swimming championship begins in Lucknow, showcasing top talents from across the state.
Lucknow: The grand opening of the 2024-25 State School Swimming, Diving, and Water Polo Championship on October 22, 2024. The event, held at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Swimming Pool, 35th Battalion PAC, Lucknow, was inaugurated by Surendra Kumar Tiwari, Joint Director of Education (Secondary), Uttar Pradesh.
The championship, organized by the Department of Secondary Education, Lucknow, saw a participation of 19 teams from across the state. The event aims to promote sports among students and provide a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents. A variety of swimming events, diving competitions, and exciting water polo matches are scheduled to take place over three days.
Speaking at the inauguration, Tiwari emphasized the importance of sports in a child's overall development. He urged parents and educators to encourage students to participate in sports activities to maintain good health and well-being. "Sports not only help in physical development but also inculcate values like discipline, teamwork, and perseverance," he said.
The championship features a diverse range of events, including freestyle, butterfly, backstroke, and breaststroke races in various distances. Diving enthusiasts will be treated to synchronized diving and individual diving events, while water polo matches promise to be a thrilling spectacle for spectators.
Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Joint Director of Education, Lucknow Division, highlighted the significance of such events in preserving the cultural heritage of the state. He informed that the 68th National School Athletics Championship will be held in Lucknow from November 26 to 30, 2024.
