PM Modi conferred with "Grand Cross of the Order of Honour" in Greece
President of Greece Katerina Sakellaropoulou awarded “The Grand Cross of the Order of Honour” to PM Narendra Modi
New Delhi. The President of Greece Katerina Sakellaropoulou awarded “The Grand Cross of the Order of Honour” to PM Narendra Modi. Please tell that the Order of Honor was established in 1975. The Grand Cross of the Order of Honor is awarded by the President of Greece to prime ministers and dignitaries who, by reason of their special position, have contributed to the advancement of Greece.
The citation states- "In the form of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an honor bestowed upon the friendly people of India." Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis warmly welcomed Modi after his meeting with President Katarina N Sakellaropoulou. The two leaders then discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral ties. Earlier, Modi told the Greek President that the success of Chandrayaan-3 is not only a victory for India, but for the entire humanity. On the other hand, Prime Minister Modi expressed his gratitude for the wishes given by the President of Greece on the success of the Chandrayaan mission.
Earlier, amid the beat of drums and chants of 'Vande Mataram', Prime Minister Modi was warmly welcomed by a large number of NRIs gathered outside his hotel in Athens. Many people standing there holding the tricolor took selfies with the Prime Minister, took autographs from him and also shook hands with him. Prime Minister Modi began his programs in Greece by paying homage at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Athens.
PM Modi Greece is the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Greece after 40 years. The last high-level visit to Greece was in September 1983, when the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi visited the country.
